Indigenization
Our commitment to Indigenous communities
We will listen to, learn from and develop meaningful relationships with the Indigenous communities we are honoured to serve by acting in three key areas.
Reconciliation
We recognize that our collective and individual efforts to advance the 94 Calls to Action as set out by the are a vital aspect of reconciliation. We will draw from the guiding principles of the TRC to build awareness of the past, acknowledge harms and atone for the causes of those harms, while taking action to change behaviours and the ongoing legacy of residential schools.
Indigenization
Indigenization is an ongoing process to create transformative environments across our college that enable us to understand, appreciate and mutually respect one another. It is a fundamental shift that weaves local Indigenous knowledge systems with other systems across the college community.
Decolonization
We will deconstruct colonial institutional constructs, ideologies and superiority. We will work to advance the reclamation, recovery and renewal of Indigenous culture, language and holistic relationships with self, spirit, land, community and others.
