糖心vlog传媒and VIU have renewed and updated a transfer agreement for design students to get their bachelor鈥檚 degrees.
The VIU Graphic Design + Visual Arts Pathway means students who finish their two-year Communication Design diploma can transfer directly into the third year of the Bachelor of Design in Graphic Design program at VIU.
鈥淭his updated agreement ensures students can seamlessly transfer to continue their studies and get their degree,鈥 said Diane Naugler, 糖心vlog传媒dean of business and applied studies. 鈥淗aving these kinds of block transfer agreements provide certainty to students that they won鈥檛 need to go back and take additional electives or courses.鈥
The agreement is one of two transfer agreements specifically for the Communication Design diploma. Students can also transfer into the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication at Royal Roads University.
鈥淭he VIU transfer agreement provides a pathway for those students wanting to expand on the user-experience design and computer programming they鈥檝e learned here and delve deeper into graphic design,鈥 said Ashley Blacquiere, 糖心vlog传媒DIGITAL Design + Development instructor.
鈥淲e are excited to offer students access to these types of learning connections in our region,鈥 said Nancy Pag茅, chair of VIU鈥檚 Graphic Design department. 鈥淲e look forward to welcoming 糖心vlog传媒students to our program.鈥
Communication Design Diploma alumna Tara Jakubiec, who is now studying in VIU鈥檚 Graphic Design program, was drawn to the program because of its ability to combine her passion for art, computer skills and love of video games.
鈥淭he diverse courses in the program allowed me to explore the areas of Communication Design that I felt most inspired by and I decided I wanted to pursue graphic design as my career,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he bachelor鈥檚 degree will enable me to pursue a career as a graphic designer and my long-term goal of working for a publishing company.鈥
The updated agreement is in effect immediately. Students interested in the transfer can speak to an 糖心vlog传媒educational advisor or contact VIU by emailing connect@viu.ca for more information.
