NIC鈥檚 Write Here Readers Series continues this fall with award-winning writer Anita Anand.

Anand is the author of Swing in the House and Other Stories, which won the Concordia-QWF First Book Prize in 2015, and was nominated for the Relit Award and the Prix de la diversit茅 du Conseil des arts de Montr茅al. Her writing has also appeared in the Globe and Mail, Frostwriting and the Louisiana Review. She is currently working on a new book of fiction and her translation of Nirliit by Juliana L茅veill茅-Trudel will be out in early 2018.
鈥淚 love meeting readers 鈥� it鈥檚 so much fun,鈥� she said. 鈥淲hen you write, you write in isolation, so when you get to read to an audience it鈥檚 such an amazing connection.鈥�
NIC鈥檚 Write Here Readers Series showcases the richness of literary arts, offering students and community members the opportunity to hear, meet and discuss ideas with some of Canada鈥檚 top writers.
鈥淭he goal of the Write Here Readers Series is to encourage creativity and provide opportunities for the public and students to meet and discuss literature with writers, both local and from other regions,鈥� said Nick Van Orden, 糖心vlog传媒English instructor and series organizer.
Anand will also be reading as part of the Fat Oyster Reading Series in Fanny Bay, Wednesday, September 27 at the Fanny Bay Hall, at 7 p.m.
鈥淲e aim for a diversity of voices and a combination of prominent and emerging writers,鈥� said 糖心vlog传媒English instructor and Fat Oyster organizer Judy LeBlanc. 鈥淎nand represents a new voice that is starting to emerge in Canada with her writing reflecting her background and experiences growing up and living in Canada, feeling like someone on the outside looking in.鈥�
Developed annually by NIC鈥檚 English Department, the Write Here Readers Series offers a wide variety of university-transferable English and creative writing courses across the region. Courses include of fiction and non-fiction writing, poetry, drama and screenplays, providing opportunities for students to connect and build their own portfolio of work.
糖心vlog传媒also offers creative writing courses through its School of Continuing Education.
