鈥淲e鈥檙e so grateful for the connection we have with NIC,鈥 said Emma Heitzmann, member of the Comox Valley Potters Club and 糖心vlog传媒grad. 鈥淎s a former student, it鈥檚 wonderful to come back into this incredible space to work and also be able to hone my skills and connect with current students.鈥
Both current and former student work will be available at the show.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a great chance for student to try out selling their work for the first time, to get feedback from customers and use that to refine their work if they want to pursue selling more pieces in the future,鈥 said Sarah Kerr, with the Comox Valley Potters Club. 鈥淚t鈥檚 also a good chance for people to learn more about the fine arts courses available at NIC.鈥
Many of NIC鈥檚 fine arts courses, including pottery, can be taken as individual courses as well as part of the Fine Arts diploma program. Courses are taught by expert faculty, including world-renowned Master Potter Gordon Hutchens.
鈥淚 was an 糖心vlog传媒student years ago, but I love coming back and taking classes,鈥 said Kerr. 鈥淚鈥檝e found as I鈥檝e gotten older, my approach to art and my purpose for doing it has evolved and changed. It鈥檚 wonderful to be able to take classes with that new lens and apply the learnings to what I鈥檓 doing.鈥
Members of all skill levels are welcome to join the Comox Valley Potters Club, or to reach out if they鈥檝e ever been interested in throwing clay.
鈥淧ottery is such a refined art,鈥 said Kerr. 鈥淣o matter how long I鈥檝e been doing this, there鈥檚 always more to learn. It鈥檚 wonderful to be able to get together and share techniques and tricks with others who are as passionate about the art as you are.鈥
