Comox Valley students will benefit from an additional $90,000 in bursaries, thanks to the local assembly of the Canadian Daughters League.
鈥淭his very generous gift will support Comox Valley students for many years to come and transform lives through the power of education,鈥 said Randall Heidt, executive director of the 糖心vlog传媒Foundation and NIC鈥檚 vice president, strategic initiatives.
For more than two decades, the Canadian Daughters League has supported students through donations from their local, provincial and national assemblies.
Eleanor Shaw, past president of the Canadian Daughters League Assembly No. 6 in the Comox Valley, explains: 鈥淭he Canadian Daughters spent many volunteer hours raising funds to support important community initiatives. Our mandate was to promote Canada and education, so we are proud to have created a permanent endowment with the NIC Foundation that will generate income every year to support Canadian students.鈥
Established in 1924, the Comox Valley Assembly of the Canadian Daughters League was part of a growing movement of 60 assemblies across Canada, stretching from Vancouver Island to Montreal. The Comox Valley Assembly disbanded, but their legacy and mandate continue through this important donation.
鈥淭he Assembly鈥檚 donation represents years of commitment,鈥 said Heidt. 鈥淭his endowment will support students in the name of the Canadian Daughters League Assembly No. 6 and their members will continue to support students far into the future.鈥
