The multi-disciplinary artist joins NIC鈥檚 2018 Artist Talk Series

NIC鈥檚 School of Fine Art and Design welcomes Nadine Bariteau to the Stan Hagen Theatre on Thursday, March 8.

Bariteau will be the fourth speaker in the 2018 Artist Talk Series, a five鈥恜art event bringing distinguished local and international artists to the college.

Artist Talk coordinator and 糖心vlog传媒instructor Sara Vipond said the series is an opportunity for students and members of the local art community to meet successful artists and gain insights into their work.

鈥淣adine Bariteau is a true artistic talent,鈥� Vipond said. 鈥淗er experience and energy are a welcome addition to this series. It鈥檚 sure to be a thought-provoking evening.鈥�

Bariteau, a 2017 finalist for the KM Hunter Prize, is known for her practice in printmaking, sculpture, installation and video performance.

She studied at Concordia University in her hometown of Montr茅al, then earned her Master of Fine Arts degree at York University. She currently lives in Toronto and teaches printmaking at the Ontario College of Art and Design.

Bariteau has exhibited her work extensively, including in China, Belgium, Argentina, Australia, the US, Russia and Japan.

In 2014, she was a visiting artist at the Department of Art and Design at the National Taipei University of Education in Taiwan. Bariteau鈥檚 work can be seen in private and public collections including the National Library of Qu茅bec.

She recently converted a school bus into Studio Coyote 鈥� a printmaking and multi-disciplinary studio space 鈥� in which she is travelling the continent.

Bariteau will speak at the Stan Hagen Theatre from 6 to 7 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The Artist Talk series previously featured artists Rick Leong (January 18), Clive Powsey (February 8) and Rande Cook (February 22). Following Bariteau鈥檚 appearance, the series will wrap up with Brendan Tang, who is set to speak on March 22.
